Perriee and Marietta
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
I would say that the majority of this blog will be written by me, Marietta, on the left. Perriee is down there on the right. You can assume that at least her approval has been sprinked on these thoughts of mine. The photo below taken May 3, 2018 at Clifty Falls State Park, Indiana. We were on a hike that day and metaphorically, have been on a hike for the past ten years. We have walked so many miles together; I would safely say a “couple of hundred”. Perriee and I have marched in parades, walked in protest, and have simply marveled at the beauty of the world. She and I have built a life together, literally! We have tiled floors, hung drywall, and have hauled tons of things around…tons of gravel, mulch, wood, etc.
Although our personalities are so different, our commonalities are what drive us. We both realize how fragile and fleeting life is. We try each day to recognize and appreciate the wonderful things we get to experience. Here are some examples:
Waking up and being able to stand, walk. and care for ourselves.
The feeling of taking a deep, clensing breath.
Relaxing in the calmness of our comfy homes (city and country).
Spending time with our pets.
Spending time with one another.
In writing those, I am reminded of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and how we are constanty striving for the top tier, Self Actualization. Overall, however, I feel pretty satisfied in terms of that pyramid.
